What should I keep in mind?
It’s essential to know that you cannot approach the border with China without proper preparation. Entry into the country requires a Chinese visa, which you can usually obtain in your home country or at an embassy in a country you’re traveling through. We recommend the embassy in Yerevan for its friendly staff, especially when compared to the troubling stories you may have heard about the Georgian embassy. Additionally, to obtain a Chinese driver’s license or license plates, you’ll need to work with an agency.
We had been preparing our journey through China for over a year because we wanted to ensure we wouldn’t be stranded with our dog in Mongolia.
