Italian Life
D
riving through Italy in a van was one of the most incredible experiences we’ve ever had. From the moment we stepped off the boat in Brindisi, we knew we were in for a beautiful journey. Our trusty van had already taken us through 5 months of Greece and now it was time to explore Italy.
One of the great things about vanlife in Italy is the flexibility it provides. We could park our van anywhere, from a quiet side street in a small town to a bustling piazza in the heart of Rome. This meant that we could explore at our own pace and really get a feel for each place we visited. It also allowed us to save money on accommodation and food, as we could cook our own meals and sleep in the van.
How to start! We did so much on during this month. We started our road trip from the eastern coast to the Lucian Dolomites, driving through winding mountain roads that offered breathtaking views.
One of the highlights of the trip was definitely the food. Italy is famous for its delicious cuisine, and we certainly didn’t miss out on any of it. We tried everything from pizza in Naples to gelato in Florence, and everything in between. We stopped at several pizzerias along the way, each offering a unique take on the classic dish.
But we especially loved the Neapolitan-style pizza, which was thin-crusted and topped with fresh ingredients. Every pizza we tried was simply amazing, and we couldn’t resist going back for more. Any person who has been to Italy before undoubtedly knows what we are talking about…

One of the highlights of our trip was being surrounded by the high mountains in the Dolomites. The scenery was so beautiful that it almost didn’t feel real.
We drove through winding roads, past crystal-clear lakes, and up steep mountain passes. It was a reminder of just how stunning Italy can be. The mountains gave us a sense of peace and calm that we couldn’t find in the city.
Overall, our one-month trip around Italy felt like a week. There was so much to see and do, and we never wanted it to end. We feel so lucky to have had the opportunity to experience Italy in this way, and we would recommend it to anyone looking for an adventure. Vanlife in Italy is the perfect combination of freedom, flexibility, and adventure, and we can’t wait to do it again someday.
